Apple, Bacon & Maple Bites

Bouchées pommes, bacon et érable

Sweet, savoury and crispy — the perfect appetizer trio.

Ingredients

2 firm apples (Cortland, Honeycrisp or Gala), diced
12 slices of bacon, cut into thirds
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp Dijon mustard
Toothpicks

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a small bowl, whisk together maple syrup, soy sauce, vinegar and Dijon mustard.

Wrap each apple cube with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick.

Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Brush generously with the maple glaze.

Bake 15–20 minutes, turning halfway through and brushing again with glaze.

Serve hot, straight from the oven.

Tips

For a festive twist, sprinkle a pinch of Espelette pepper before baking.

You can prepare the glaze in advance and assemble just before guests arrive.
